Programme for Kids and Young Adults

Not possible? No such thing! – This is the credo of many of the main characters in this year’s Programme for Kids and Young Adults. But how can you actually pull it off? How do you confront obstacles and adversity, whether they’re external or internal, physical or emotional? The ideas, solutions and strategies are as varied as the stories, challenges and characters in these films. Imagination, cohesion and a fierce resolve to »do it anyway«, to break the mould and rebel against what appear to be unchangeable realities, play a central role.

The Programme for Kids and Young Adults is a key component of IFFF Dortmund+Köln. We present films by directors from all over the world that are made specifically for young audiences. The films have a special quality, are wide-ranging in their aesthetics and take creative narrative forms. In their stories, they are committed to the perspective of children and young adults. They provide encouragement, offer role models and provide a glimpse into other people’s lives. Experiencing these kinds of stories together on the big screen is what makes a film festival so special.
