IFFF Dortmund+Köln sees cinema and film in a broader context. Artistic residencies, book publications and art workshops are among the festival’s regular projects happening right throughout the year.

    • 2021: What we filmed: Films by GDR Women Directors after 1990, book being published in autumn 2021 > more
    • 2020/21: Artistic research residency: Fasia Jansen
      In cooperation with Interkultur Ruhr, IFFF Dortmund+Köln initiated the artistic research residency focusing on Fasia Jansen, a Black songwriter and peace activist. The scholarship holders Marny Garcia Mommertz and Princela Biyaa presented their results at the festival on June 20th 2021 > video
    • 2019: verWANDlungen, photography workshop and exhibition in Dortmund’s U cinema with young people under the direction of artist Desiree Palmen. As a part of Focus 2019 titled »Image Traps« which dealt with camouflage as a cineastic topic , young girls created a series of artistic photographs in which they »vanish« into the surroundings in downtown Dortmund. The photographs are available as a set of postcards as well as art prints.

World Views

As the name suggests, the World Views series offers a broad selection of films from many different countries and cultures. The themes of the series are openness, understanding, tolerance and forms of dialogue that embrace diversity.
