»ifs-Begegnung« Gender & Diversity

The ifs internationale filmschule köln and IFFF Dortmund+Köln have joined forces, tapping their synergies to raise awareness of the work of women directors in the cultural sector and at film schools. We regularly show feature films and documentaries as part of »ifs-Begegnung« Gender & Diversity. Among the highlights in 2019/20 were the documentary film The Second Attack about right-wing violence in Germany followed by a talk with director Mala Reinhardt and a roundtable discussion with Alice Schwarzer and Sabine Derflinger, director of the film Die Dohnal.

The programme also shows important avant-garde films, such as Daughters of the Dust by one of the first Afro-American feature-film directors Julie Dash, and festival films, for example Los Silencios by Brazilian Beatriz Seigner.

We collaborated with ifs internationale filmschule köln as well as Pro Quote Film and WIFT Germany for the online discussion FREE THE GAZE – A best practice discussion on cinematic emancipation. The recording video is available on our channels on Vimeo and YouTube.

During the Festival in June 2021, we talked with director Narges Kalhor as part of the »ifs-Begegnung« Gender & Diversity. The conversation is still available on our Vimeo channel.

All events take place at Filmforum NRW at Museum Ludwig. Admission is free.
