The Film All-Nighter
Sharp Nails, Sharp Tongues
The Film All-Nighter showcases contemporary feminist works by both emerging and established female filmmakers. Across fourteen films, the main characters sharpen their nails. They confront traumatic experiences, intolerable circumstances and normative role models through creative artistic means. In doing so, they refuse to remain stuck where they started, opting instead to take a critical look at the structural conditions. They use verbal wit and, at times, a sharp tongue; through shifts in perspective; through the ingenious interweaving of cinematic genres and documentary material with experimental practices. Ladies, Sharpen Your Nails!
