Kurzfilmprogramm Fake Space

»LET’S GET RID OF THE GHETTO!«
TOWER XYZ
Archaeology on social channels, the painstaking search for suitable footage: To create a new filmic reality, we need consistency in the quality of the material and a coherent narrative structure. In Shuttles, space shuttles merely act as an elegant pretext for creating an authentic story in a mythically charged place: Cape Canaveral. The swathes of fog that surround us numb our senses. We live in the fake space of our perception: it looks so real, it must be real! We live in the fake space of the heavenly cloud, its weightlessness embodied in an inaccessible place of power, the seabed. Eight-hundred and eighty thousand kilometres of fibre optic cables, drowned bodies, excretions from floating amusement parks. This is where the paths of colonial and capitalist logic can be traced. What I do not see does not exist. But what I remember and how I remember it shapes my reality. It is not unusual for false memories to appear in emotional situations, for past experiences to adapt to the present and independent spaces of remembrance to emerge. Potential operations in the future go through state control systems by means of
computer simulations. Strategic cleansing operations are carried out in clean, germ-free environments (›Clean Spaces‹) that have nothing in common with the chaos and complexity of places that really exist. This programme is dedicated to the chaos and complexity of spaces and times in which we are anchored. Rebirth is necessary.
