Dans le silence d’une mer abyssale
In the silence of an abyssal sea
Juliette Klinke
This film looks at pioneering women film-makers such as Alice Guy, who made the first ever fiction film, and Germaine Dulac, who brought surrealism to the screen even before Luis Buñuel. Charlie Chaplin is a household name, but virtually no one knows his mentor Mabel Normand, who cast him in his first role. »What is worth remembering?« asks the film. And: »Who decides what’s worth remembering?«
