What will life actually be like in a few thousand trillion years’ time? For a boy in the north German marshlands, the answers are obvious. His thoughts naturally centre on rock philosophy, while next door the farmer tries to manoeuvre stones using a tractor and in the kitchen a researcher examines the fine structure of the stones. The film begins where the adult imagination often ends and shows how interwoven the history of mankind is with the seemingly silent stone witnesses. What kind of perspectives could we adopt if we listened?

Ann Carolin Renninger studierte Kulturwissenschaften, Philosophie und Journalistik in Leipzig, Straßburg und Paris. Von 2006 bis 2008 leitete sie DOK Industry, die Koproduktions/Branchenplattform von DOK Leipzig. Seit 2008 arbeitete sie für zero one film in Berlin im Bereich Produktion und Entwicklung. 2010 gründete sie ihre eigene Produktionsfirma joon film, mit der sie sich auf experimentelle und künstlerische Filme spezialisiert hat.
