DISCUSSION Monika Hauser – Ein Porträt

Edith Eisenstecken, Evi Oberkofler, Helga Kirchner, Monika Hauser

WITH MONIKA HAUSER, EVI OBERKOFLER, EDITH EISENSTECKEN UND HELGA KIRCHNER

In 2014, the women’s rights organisation medica mondiale approached the IWFF Dortmund | Cologne for the first time with the request to hold a film screening followed by a panel discussion. The Festival has gladly granted this wish, given that the theme of depicting violence and sexualised violence against women in films is a central topic for us as women festival organisers. Again and again we ask ourselves what the limits are to what can be shown, and at what point the representation of the topic in the media constitutes another misuse.

medica mondiale has been involved with traumatised women and girls in war and crisis zones for 25 years now, offering local help in the form of trauma-related and psychosocial health work as well as legal assistance and economic support. At political level, medica mondiale is committed to the upholding of women’s rights, and it demands the consistent punishment of crimes as well as effective protection, justice and political participation for the survivors of violence.

The film screening of Monika Hauser – A Portrait is followed by a discussion with Monika Hauser and the two directors Evi Oberkofler and Edith Eisenstecken. The interview will be hosted by journalist Helga Kirchner.

In cooperation with medica mondiale
