One hot summer day, Şirin drives through Berlin-Neukölln to pick up her aunt Bihar. The two embark on a road trip to the countryside. Once there, family secrets, memories of Bihar’s origins and conflicts over identity and queerness surface. Bihar reveals her long-kept secret before the pair continue their journey together the next morning. A journey filled with memories and unspoken truths.
Emine Demir
Emine Demir is a director, screenwriter and poet. Demir’s films and texts address racism, queer feminism, family, state oppression and issues of belonging and longing. Demir is a child of Turkish migrants and holds a master’s degree in peace and conflict studies. She was a fellow of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Demir went on to complete a master’s degree in film directing at Filmarche film school in Berlin. Her documentary film 15 YIL has received international acclaim.
