Keep Your Laws Off My Body
Catherine Gund, Zoe Leonard
Artist Zoe Leonard and filmmaker Catherine Gund take a look at how bodies in both private and public spaces are regulated by legal codes. Their film shows two lesbian protagonists bringing together apparently personal footage with images of ACT UP demonstrations and legal texts, effectively dismantling dualistic structures. By placing lesbian and feminist perspectives at the forefront, they highlight their crucial role in AIDS activism, particularly during the deadliest phase of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the US.
