A traditional dance is freed of its conservative politics, creating a space for queer history/stories. This Super 8 film is a collaboration between filmmaker Agustina Comedi and artist duo Chiachio & Giannone. By altering the repetitive element of a familiar visual motif and reimagining the traditional Pericón dance, the film challenges conventional notions of nationhood – through its setting, the dancers’ costumes, their personal histories and their movements.

Agustina Comedi ist eine argentinische Filmemacherin und Drehbuchautorin mit einem Abschluss in Literaturwissenschaften. Comedis Kurzfilm Playback war 2020 Teil der Berlinale Shorts Competition und gewann den Teddy Award.

Chiachio & Giannone sind visuelle Künstler aus Argentinien. In ihren Arbeiten verbinden sie Malerei und Textil und beschäftigen sich mit Fragen queerer Zugehörigkeit und queeren Familien. Ihre Arbeiten waren Teil nationaler und internationaler Ausstellungen.
