Susann Maria Hempel visits the ruins of her former home in Greiz and explores the beauty of decay. Her film is a homage to electronic music pioneer Oskar Sala, also a native of Greiz, who created the sound effects for Hitchcock’s The Birds. In collaboration with the Institute for Special Zoology and Evolutionary Biology in Jena, she choreographs flies moving to Sala’s music with a high-speed camera in an increasingly decaying environment.
