Alone in a room. A curtain blows in the wind, the bride’s dress is voluminous, something big is about to happen. Then the bride suddenly belts out the lyrics to »Stay with me baby, please« by American soul legend Lorraine Ellison. The ironic contrast between the volume of the two women’s voices creates an unexpected complicity against patriarchal structures and constraints.
Kurdwin Ayub
Kurdwin Ayub born in Iraq in 1990, studied experimental animation and painting with Judith Eisler at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 2011, she enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, studying performative art under Carola Dertnig. Ayub works as a director, screenwriter, and video and performance artist in Vienna, Austria.
