How does a small, peace-loving pufferfish scare off other larger, menacing fish? By becoming even bigger and more menacing itself! This game can’t go on forever, though. What happens when the ruse is exposed and everyone reveals their true selves? This short film uses playful and striking images to show how fear can lead to unwanted power struggles – and how liberating it can be to stop pretending.
Julia Ocker
Julia Ocker is an animated film director, designer and author from Stuttgart. She studied visual communication in Pforzheim and Cairo and animation at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. She discovered her passion for children’s film while producing five short films for the SWR series Ich kenne ein Tier (›I know an animal‹). This led her to develop her own children’s series, Animanimals, which has so far sold to 180 international territories and shown at festivals worldwide.
