Audience
Barbara Hammer
In the early 1980s, Barbara Hammer took a 16mm camera to screenings of her own films in San Francisco, London, Toronto and Montreal, turning her audiences into the protagonists of this film. What were they expecting from a lesbian film? In front of the camera, they appear as a confident community.
»In a time of national borders and increasing geographic chauvinism, I found images of women transcending boundaries and cultures and at the same time acting as spokespeople for cultural difference.« Barbara Hammer
