Music in Films: Mondmann
There would any film be without music? And how does it come about, what effect does it have on the viewers and who makes it in the first place? Well, one living example is composer Martina Eisenreich who wrote the music score for Mondmann. She will be on hand for the screening of the film to give the school student audience a lively introduction into the whole topic of film music. The German Film Orchestra Babelsberg recently recorded the 38,000 notes of her composition. Enough material to show the course the music takes – from the germ of an idea to work with the film director and film technicians. In her look behind the scenes, Ms Eisenreich will also be reconstructing the route taken by her music from the first sketches at the piano to the MIDI instruments as electronically simulated by the computer and then on to the final cinema surround mix. Finally, the composer will use selected film scenes from the Mondmann soundtrack to demonstrate how sound and music can influence the audience’s perception of on-screen images.
