Animation Workshop for Girls

Animation Workshop for Girls

EACH OF US IS DIFFERENT.

The film programme for school classes starts prior to the Festival with an animation workshop during the Easter holiday period. This workshop covers the fundamentals required to create and produce an animated film and how film-makers can visually implement their own ideas. This year’s workshop takes as its starting point the heroines of the films in the programme for school classes. They are examined in detail and in line with the programme’s overarching theme »Each of us is different…«. Alongside the film heroines the workshop focuses firmly on the girls themselves, specifically addressing their own strengths and what they exactly want to incorporate into their films. For this Easter holiday project, film-maker Maria Goinda and illustrator Stefanie Levers along with social educator Sabine Osbelt assist the young female students in creating and developing their ideas: together they sketch out their figures and gradually bring them to life. Clips from the animated films will be shown at the Dortmund | Cologne IWFF 2016 in Cologne.

The workshop is a cooperation project with LOBBY FÜR MÄDCHEN, a social meeting point and advice centre for all types of crisis and conflict situations, that provides young females with career advice and advises them on health matters, performs work looking out for girls from refugee and asylum seeker families as well as girls who are unaccompanied minors.
