Selection Programme in Dortmund

The festival has pitched its tents in Cologne in 2022, but our heart also beats for Dortmund. From today until Saturday we present you a small selection of our programme at the Schauburg.

On Thursday (March 31) at 8 p.m., we will screen Rebel Dykes by Harri Shanahan and Siân A. Williams, which portrays a group of young, maladjusted and gender-nonconforming dykes in 1980s London.

On Friday (April 01), it starts at 6 p.m. with Nico by Eline Gehring. Sara Fazilat plays title character Nico, who after a racist attack decides never to be a victim again. The ecosexual adventure  Water Makes Us Wet follows at 8:30 p.m. In this performative research, which also deals with the sexuality of water, Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens meet and interview numerous accomplices, including performance artists, biologists and employees of a water treatment plant (with pre-film How to Civilize a Waterfall).

On Saturday (April 2) you have to choose between The Other Side of the River by Antonia Kilian and Clara Sola entscheiden. Antonia Kilian’s documentary portrays Hala, who at the age of 19 fled a forced marriage from Minbic in northern Syria across the Euphrates – and ended up in the Kurdish military. Clara Sola by Nathalie Álvarez Mesén is part of the International Debut Feature Film Competition in Cologne and deals with the gently blossoming sexuality of a woman who is mistaken for a healer by her pious mother and lives together with her in seclusion in a remote mountain village. At 8:30 pm we cordially invite everyone to experience our touching opening film Kevin in Dortmund. Director Joana Oliveira, protagonist Kevin Adweko and part of the crew will be present.
