The multi-award-winning feature film starring Sara Fazilat is a close, loving portrait. Nico works in residential care and spends the summer with her best friend Rosa in Berlin. Just when everything seems to be going well, she falls victim to a racist attack. She is beaten up and lands in hospital. This experience changes her everyday life and her relationships. She has to face everything afresh and somehow get on with life again. The things that are familiar no longer feel as secure as they did before. New people come into her life, and one encounter is directly linked to the violent episode she suffered, although she doesn’t realise this at first. She seeks a way out of her problem through a karate club, and from then on is challenged by trainer Andy. While visiting a funfair with Rosa, she meets Ronny, who works at a shooting booth here. Nico portrays the protagonist’s caring and understanding relationships with her friends and the people she works with in nursing. The film also uses some amateur actors and paints an emotionally dense portrait of the effects of racist violence. It is remarkable in its portrayal of friendship and of what residential nursing could look like.
