International Women’s Day takes place on March 8th for the 112th time. It creates visibility that women around the world are still fighting for their rights and freedoms every day. In addition, March 7th is Equal Pay Day this year, marking the wage gap between women and men, which is still 18% in Germany.

Screening on occasion of the Equal Pay Day 2023: Keiner schiebt uns weg (Nobody pushes us away)
Equal pay for equal work – still an outrageous demand in the 1970s. In 1981, the “Heinze women”, employees of a Gelsenkirchen photo company, successfully went to the Federal Labor Court for equal pay. The film tells the fictional story of three women workers, based on the »Heinze women«, who pave the way towards ‘equal pay’ with a lot of assertiveness and solidarity typical of the Ruhr area.
