»No one pushes us away« as part of Equal Pay Day
Women should earn the same as men? In the 1970s, that was unheard of! Until the »Heinze women«, employees of a Gelsenkirchen-based photography company, changed that. When they went all the way to the Federal Labor Court for equal pay in 1981 – and won – they caused a nationwide sensation. ‘Keiner schieben uns weg’ tells the fictional story, based on the »Heinze women«, of three female employees of the Kunze photo company in Gelsenkirchen who, with a great deal of Ruhrpottian assertiveness and solidarity among women, as was typical in these times of the women’s movement, paved the way towards ‘Equal Pay’.
