»Rugby’s not for girls!« – how many times have they heard this statement? Aicha, Kim and Nell, however, are living proof that girls certainly can play rugby. The three friends and their teammates don’t give a damn about gender stereotypes and enjoy the sense of empowerment they get from being part of a strong community. It’s the passion for sport that unites the 17-year-olds. And the desire to actively resist age-old prejudices.

Claudia Lopez-Lucia
Claudia Lopez Lucia studied political science before switching to audio-visual media. In 2014, she completed training as an assistant director at the École Supérieure d’Études Cinématographiques (ESEC), and in 2018 graduated from Paris-Nanterre University with a Master’s degree in screenwriting. During this time, she also wrote the screenplay for her first feature-length film. Les roses et les bleus is her first documentary short.
