Olhe bem as montanhas
Look Closely at the Mountains
Ana Vaz
Ana Vaz compares mining regions in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and in northern France. The artist calls on us to »look closely at the mountains«, offering us poetic images and sounds. On the one hand, soil erosion in Brazil is causing devastating landslides, on the other, spoil tips in France have developed into precious nature reserves where researchers measure and catalogue the area’s newfound biodiversity.

Ana Vaz
Ana Vaz is an artist and film-maker who uses film as an instrument. Composed as filmic poems, her work explores regions and events that are plagued by the ever-present consequences of internal and external forms of colonialism and their impact on land, humans and other-than-human forms of life. Expanding on her film work, Vaz also finds expression in writing and installations.
