In Your Face

A face is projected onto a face. The everyday reflections focused on In Your Face are the projections of other people onto one’s own appearance. These external projections from others mix together, creating a whirling vortex. Someone presses the pause button and reduces everything to the essentials again: eyes, nose, mouth—and click: Finding oneself so that self-reflection becomes possible.

Anika Schäfer is a writer, spoken word artist and film-maker. Her work deals with topics such as Filipino-German identities and anti-Asian racism. In Your Face is her first film, made at the Queer BIPoC Filmcamp of the Dortmund Sunrise Youth Centre.
