A white-painted hallway, a staircase from which someone steps out onto the street. A kitchen where dishes are being washed, a tin of sardines is being opened and an egg is being broken. A bottle of beer that overflows and a piece of thread that just won’t go through the eye of the needle. In 1965, Alemann made her first film about the relationship between space, movement and gender in the filmmaking department at Ulm School of Design.
