After the war and various demolition raids, only one building is left standing at Potsdamer Platz directly next to the Wall: Haus Huth. Once a sophisticated wine establishment in Berlin’s entertainment quarter, it is now home to dreamers and drop-outs who don’t care for proximity to or detachment from urban infrastructure. Details in the staircase provide a glimpse of the building’s old splendour. This never-never- land property was suddenly thrown open when, after the Wall was opened, people suddenly started moving through the derelict wasteland.
