Awa Moctar Gueye
A suburb of Dakar, Senegal. Binta draws a white marble and becomes the new leader of her group. The others doubt she’s up to the task as a girl. A test of courage will decide. Will Binta be able to confront the sinister Pa Kong-Kong, a legendary man from their neighbourhood? Rich in allusions and associations, the film reflects the tension between curiosity and unease that shapes the transition to adulthood.
Awa Moctar Gueye
Awa Moctar Gueye is a screenwriter and director. She studied at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, Senegal, where she earned a Master’s degree in arts and culture. In her films, which have been shown at film festivals in Poitiers, Bilbao and Saint-Louis, among others, she combines documentary and fictional elements. Gueye works with UNESCO to promote women in African cinema.
