Awa Moctar Gueye
A suburb of Dakar, Senegal. Binta draws a white marble and becomes the new leader of her group. The others doubt she’s up to the task as a girl. A test of courage will decide. Will Binta be able to confront the sinister Pa Kong-Kong, a legendary man from their neighbourhood? Rich in allusions and associations, the film reflects the tension between curiosity and unease that shapes the transition to adulthood.
Awa Moctar Gueye
Awa Moctar Gueye ist Drehbuchautorin und Regisseurin. Sie studierte an der Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, Senegal, und erlangte dort einen Master im Fachbereich Kunst und Kultur. In ihren Filmen, die unter anderem auf den Filmfestivals in Poitiers, Bilbao und Saint-Louis liefen, verknüpft sie dokumentarische und fiktionale Ansätze miteinander. Gueye engagiert sie sich mit der UNESCO für die Förderung von Frauen im afrikanischen Kino.
