When Nabou is ditched by her girlfriend, she promptly accepts a cleaning job in her ex’s neighbour’s flat. This leads to her getting closer to career-minded, chain-smoking Kim, and she falls in love with her. Ambitious copywriter Kim is the polar opposite of the impulsive Nabou: successful but unhappy with her job at a Hamburg agency and her yuppie boyfriend Dieter, she prefers spending her time with single parent Kofi. After twists and tangles aplenty, Nabou and Kim finally come together in the nick of time. Just before Dieter can officially propose to Kim, the two women jump into the Alster and swim off.

Alles wird gut is the first entertainment film supported by German television with an Afro-German cast. According to screenwriter Fatima el Tayeb, choosing the screwball comedy genre was a »trick to present various minorities to a German primetime TV audience without having to explain the characters to them.« Comedy, according to el Tayeb, works against the distanced, detached, ethnological viewpoint or one that is supposed to arouse pity. This mainstream appropriation strategy is also reflected in the look of the film, inspired by Do the Right Thing (Spike Lee 1989). Alles wird gut is an example of the heyday in public funding. It took 16 years before the second German entertainment film with an Afro-German cast came along, in the form of Auf den zweiten Blick (Sheri Hagens 2012).
