The Film All-Nighter

The Film All-Nighter

When beauty operations were not a viable option, devilish procedures were the order of the day. In Rapsodia Satanica, the Italian diva Lyda Borelli plays an aging lady who, pining for her lost youth, seals a pact with the Devil himself: Mephisto gives her eternal youth if in return she renounces love. This Italian silent movie from 1917 will be accompanied by von Joachim Bärenz on the piano and serves as the opener to an exciting film night with many guests (see film: p. 100). Expect a celebration of the short film in all its witty, biting and excessive nuances. The music videos, animated film and experimentals to be screened are also highly varied in terms of style and technics – with the spectrum ranging from lion tamer »Tilly Bébé« through big game hunters in Buck Fever to labioplasty operations in Centrefold. Plus, suitable artistic contributions to the sexism and feminism debates of 2013.
