June 9th: Amina Maher as a guest in our program series »Art on the MOve« in Dortmund’s Museum Ostwall

Art by Max Beckmann and Freya Hattenberger in the presentation of the MO_collection (Dortmund based Museum Ostwall) reflect the relationship between sexuality and violence. The Iranian filmmaker Amina Maher, who became known through her work in Abbas Kiarostami’s world-famous film Ten, contrasts this with an autobiographically inspired short film trilogy in which she processes experiences with sexualised violence, trauma, shame and desire into art. We are very pleased to present Amina Maher and her films in Dortmund.

The program »Sexuality, Violence and the Art of Survival« includes three short films and a conversation with Amina Maher and takes place as part of our series »Art on the MOve – Body & Soul in Art and Film« for the presentation of the MO Museum Ostwall collection »Body & Soul. Thinking, Feeling, Brushing Your Teeth«.
