Workshop: Green Filmmaking

Green Film-Making Workshop

On the back of the climate crisis, film funding organisations and broadcasters have issued new ecological guidelines and are increasingly demanding more sustainable film and media productions. Reducing CO2 emissions and waste, proactively protecting the environment and using fewer resources form the cornerstones of green film-making.

This workshop will discuss specific changes that can be implemented immediately, as well as more wide-ranging sustainability strategies. The focus will be on upholding a high level of social standards, as ecological sustainability is closely linked to social sustainability.

The workshop is aimed at film-makers who want to learn some of the fundamentals relevant to their low-budget productions. It is divided into three topic blocks:

4. Overview of the new »ecological standards« from the Green Shooting working group (current to 2023) in the context of current funding guidelines and the internal and external incentives for improving sustainability in film production.

5. The ecological standards in practice and insights into CO2 offsetting

6. requirements for production companies; festivals and other organisations in the context of sustainability, as well as the realities of calculating CO2 emissions and the question: does »compensation« help? Concluding Open Discussion
