Wikipedia – an Introduction for Women Working in Film & Television

Renate Nuppenau

AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE FOR WOMEN ONLY. WRITING AN ARTICLE FOR THE WIKIPEDIA IS NOT DIFFICULT!

How do you write an article for Wikipedia? How do you best set out to write about films made by women, women directors, women’s themes, camera women, women film editors, actresses, women costume designers and women set designers? Not to mention film topics in general? The workshop will: help with preliminary issues about creating a Wikipedia account; discuss draft articles; and, from log-in to upload, explain in simple steps what to observe and what to avoid.

And why a course expressly for women? Answer: because only 10% of Wikipedia authors are female. This is far too few!
Experienced women Wikipedia authors make their knowledge available and supervise the editing process. There will also be assistance with various other topics and a look at further possibilities in the Wikipedia.

Organised by Wikimedia Germany in association with the Dortmund | Cologne IWFF and Cologne International Film School. Also supported by Women in Film & Television and LaDOC
