Kino to go

A film is projected onto a house wall.

»Trousers today, I think. And pullover. Hood up, down the stairs. Rather be invisible today. No looks today, thanks.« From Wenn du lächeln würdest (If you smiled) by Mirjam Aggeler. Text taken from the anthology Flexen. Flâneusen schreiben Städte (Flexing. Flâneuses write about cities)

Strolling relaxed through streets or drifting through a crowd is a privilege. It is not always a given that women, people of colour or LGBTQ people can move around freely and light-heartedly in public spaces anywhere they want. Spaces are not given, they are created. Real built cityscapes reflect the society that builds them. In the past, this building was often oriented towards capital and power interests. Taking participation or sustainability into account in urban planning still happens too rarely.
The city—a space of unlimited possibilities, a space for exchange and free development? Or a space where only a few can really use these possibilities, a space of exclusion and displacement? Where are the invisible borders and prescribed lines of tradition? In our cinematic stroll, we move around within this field of tension. We are looking for the gaps that can be used creatively and want to open up thinking through new perspectives. We will conquer the urban space on foot, adopt existing structures and convert them using moving images.
»Kino to go« is a mix of city walk and short film night. With projector, sound system and the audience, we walk through the city of Dortmund. The walls of buildings become a screen. Passers-by become extras. The soundscape mixes with the sound.

We will meet on 19.4. at 20:45 in front of the Schauburg Dortmund.

Participation is free of charge!
