Dortmund Goes Black Festival 2022

In 2021, twelve artists and actors with a biographical connection to Dortmund and the Ruhr region presented their creative and artistic work at Dortmund Goes Black. Under the motto »There are black people in the future«, a quote from Alisha B. Wormsley, narratives, performances, presentations, lectures, and workshops by actors from (or with a connection to) Dortmund and the Ruhr region are now being created at the Dortmund Goes Black Festival 2022.

IFFF Dortmund+Köln has joined forces with Schauspiel Dortmund, Dietrich-Keuning-Haus and Dortmunder Kunstverein to offer this platform for black perspectives under the direction of Julia Wissert and Megha Kono-Patel.

Now the artists themselves are inviting visitors to present their work together for four days at Schauspiel Dortmund, to discuss, network and linger together. Central is the visibility of Black artists in the Ruhr area. Questions of Black future, present and memory from an intersectional perspective are the focus of the festival.

The program includes workshops, performances, spoken word performances, stagings, music, (video) installations, artist talks, films and exhibitions.

We are especially looking forward to the 3D installation by the fellows of our Fasia Jansen residency, Princela Biyaa and Marny Garcia Mommertz, on May 13 at 6:15 pm at Schauspiel Dortmund!

Programme and more info in the blog and on the website of Theater Dortmund (in German).
