Neo Nahda
May Ziadé
In the café where she works, Mona discovers a book of archive photos from the Arab Image Foundation. This sparks a quest to uncover queer Arab histories, leading her to imagine herself in the charged atmosphere of a 1920s Arab salon, surrounded by cross-dressing women.
»I think archives are extremely important, as a way to connect with history, to reaffirm narratives that have been deliberately erased through patriarchal and colonial processes« (May Ziadé).
