Special screening under ground
One of the most unusual screenings at this year’s festival takes place in the training mine in Recklinghausen. There, together with the Dokomotive Platform, we are showing the award-winning documentary Sun Under Ground by Mareike Bernien and Alex Gerbaulet. With Wismut AG, they are investigating part of German nuclear history and, based on the uranium finds in Thuringia and Saxony, are also drawing a political history of divided Germany.
To see the film, we enter the shaft ourselves, get used to the dark, the colors, the lights, and dig into the story. The hard work underground can be experienced on a tour of the Recklinghausen training mine. Anyone can pick up the drill themselves. After the screening there will be a film talk with the director Alex Gerbaulet.
