Director Monika Treut visits Schauburg Dortmund

On the Saturday of the Festival, Monika Treut, director and jury member in the International Feature Film Competition, will be a guest at IFFF Dortmund+Köln. She will personally present the double feature of her films Gendernauts (6 p.m.) und Genderation (8:15 p.m.) at Schauburg in Dortmund. The two entertaining documentaries immerse yourself in the queer and lesbian-gay community in San Francisco in the 1990s and today.

Gendernauts introduces us to a group of fascinating artists in California who live between the poles of conventional gender identity. Like cosmonauts in space and cybernauts in the internet, the gendernauts travel through the diverse worlds of sexuality. In 2021 Monika Treut will travel back to some of the protagonists of the first film. Genderation is a journey through time, a reunion with familiar characters and a road movie without closure. A cross-generational conversation is also made possible through the medium of film. The films are shown in the original English version with German subtitles. We show both films in collaboration with Museum Ostwall within the programme Art on the MOve.

Anyone who is not able to join us at cinema can meet Monika Treut at 7:30 p.m. in our Online-Live-Talk with Natascha Frankenberg, curator of the desired! film lust & queer programme. Or join us on SpacialChat around 8:15 p.m.. This digital get-together is accessible to everyone, even without accreditation or a ticket.
