The Time of a Slime Mold
We see a luminous, colourful kaleidoscope of slime mould cultures. The emerging patterns of spreading cells are reminiscent of Karelian weaving and inspire Leena Pukki to reflect on temporality, traditions and the life stages of organisms. Once we hear the mysterious whispering of the words »Cells are family patterns«, then we also start to think about ourselves, our bodies, and human connections.
Leena Pukki is a visual artist interested in cultural hegemonies, the relationship between humans and other species, history, utopias, feelings and power structures. Pukki earned her Master of Fine Arts from Aalto University in 2015 and her Bachelor of Arts from Lahti University of Applied Sciences Art Institute in 2007. As a member of the Miracle Workers Collective, Pukki was involved in the Finnish Pavilion at the 58th International Art Exhibition Biennale di Venezia (2019).
