Ten-year-old Rico refers to himself as ›lowly gifted‹, because he thinks a lot, but in a different way to everyone else. He tells this so convincingly to the people around him that they can only admire him. A lot has changed in Rico’s life: his mother has a new partner, and his best friend Oskar has moved into the same building. A fabulous situation for the two friends, both quite different but in the best of spirits. Then old man Fitzke suddenly dies and Rico inherits his beloved stone collection. While the highly talented Oskar is convinced that the collection is totally worthless, Rico reckons he has come into something of great value. When the intrepid duo realise that Rico’s favourite stone has been stolen, they switch into sleuth mode! A new detective adventure begins.

Rico, Oskar und der Diebstahlstein is the final part of the Rico&Oskar– trilogy and features a star-studded cast right down to the minor roles in the film. Andreas Steinhöfel’s novel for children and young adults and the film adaptation were huge successes in Germany. This last instalment constitutes the brilliant finale to this story about the friendship, love and adventures shared by the two boys.
