Ella Knorz
Lea is 18, fresh out of school and soaking up the summer – pools, parties, sunrises. When she realises she’s pregnant, she knows what she wants and quietly navigates the bureaucracy of obtaining an abortion. While everyone else continues to party, she measures time in days, appointments and breaths. With near-documentary intimacy with its compelling lead, the film treats abortion not as a taboo but as a lived experience – concrete, sober and firmly rooted in the present.

Ella Knorz
Born in Heidelberg in 2000, Ella Knorz is a German filmmaker who studied scene directing at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München from 2020 to 2025. She also works as a still photographer for arthouse film productions. For Neun Tage im August she was both writer, director, producer and editor. The short film is currently showing at international film festivals.
