A group of people carry a large tree trunk over a boggy terrain. There are no machines around to help, they just work their way slowly together. Tamy, Bruna, Chiva and Ana are all Derick’s mothers. With help from other friends, they are building a house for their child in the Brazilian forest. It’s a long, drawn-out project, constantly on the verge of failure. Besides being parents, the women are bound through their activism. Their queer feminist and anarchist political views determine the life they share. The film accompanies them in their daily lives. Documentary stages are regularly interspersed with musical interludes, the protagonists singing directly into the camera, the songs also making activist statements. The shared day-to-day and the political struggles are interwoven. In which tangible form can they live out their political, ecological and social ideas? They give it a try. Amidst a conservative society in Brazil and the threat of state violence, the protagonists collectively create a queer feminist place. The film portrays the family while also allowing the child to operate the camera from time to time.
