The film-maker Beryl Magoko grew up in a village in Kenya. As a young girl, she was subjected to female genital mutilation/cutting, unaware at the time of the profound impact this would have on her life. Later, she finds out about new surgical procedures that promise to give back to her what she has lost. Beryl explores this personal and political issue by talking to other women who have shared similar experiences. With surprising candour, she also confronts her own family with her questions.
