With girls & boys in history we pay homage to Tatjana Turanskyj and show that we must continue to act, as achieving equality is an ongoing process. In our minds we see her in front of us, laughing heartily and engaged in discussion: »They say: if you don’t show your feelings, you have everything under control. If you get worked up, you’re unprofessional. But that also prevents a lot. For me, however, emotions, discourse and intellectuality are not mutually incompatible.«
Tatjana Turanskyj
Tatjana Turanskyj, co-founder of the ProQuote directors’ initiative, began making films and performances with the women’s film collective Hangover Ltd. In 2008 she founded the production company turanskyj & ahlrichs with Jan Ahlrichs. Her directorial debut The Drifter premiered at the Berlinale Forum. Her next two feature films tackled the position of women in the modern working world from a feminist and activist perspective. Tatjana Turanskyj died on 18.9.2021 following a long illness.
