Horizontal Gene Transfer (HGT) describes the exchange of genetic material between organisms outside of traditional inheritance from parents to offspring – and is the name of a K-punk collective from Stuttgart. Six female artists with immigrant backgrounds use experimental methods to explore what it means to be human. This animated music video shows them as the proud mothers of a child conceived through HGT.
Melissa Chee
Melisa Chee is a Singaporean artist who works with illustrations, risograph printing, zines, comics, animation and mixed media. Mainly inspired by her reflections on life, she likes experimenting with various media and methods of storytelling, often playing with the juxtaposition of cute and horror. She lives and works in Germany.
