The outline of a figure emerges from a kind of snowstorm. Dust blends with the white matter that descends as work is carried out on a gigantic sculpture, which will soon find its place of honour in a village community. It’s being dismantled for transportation. A huge, gently smiling head is suspended in the air before it starts its long journey along Poland’s country roads, past towns, villages, houses. Figure is a surreal story about religious myths, the construction of power and desire for greatness.

Katarzyna Gondek
Director and author Gondek studied film and documentary film at the Wajda School in Warsaw. After publishing two novels, a book of poetry and producing a series of short films, she is currently working on fictional material and a documentary about disappearing memories. She is particularly interested in the surreal. Gondek‘s films have been shown at international festivals and won her several awards.
