The outline of a figure emerges from a kind of snowstorm. Dust blends with the white matter that descends as work is carried out on a gigantic sculpture, which will soon find its place of honour in a village community. It’s being dismantled for transportation. A huge, gently smiling head is suspended in the air before it starts its long journey along Poland’s country roads, past towns, villages, houses. Figure is a surreal story about religious myths, the construction of power and desire for greatness.

Katarzyna Gondek
Die Filmemacherin und Autorin Gondek studierte Filmwissenschaft und Dokumentarfilm an der Wajda School in Warschau. Nach der Veröffentlichung zweier Romane, einem Lyrikband und einer Reihe von Kurzfilmen arbeitet sie aktuell an einem fiktionalen Stoff und einem Dokumentarfilm über das Verschwinden von Erinnerungen. Meist ist es das Surreale, was sie interessiert. Gondeks Filme werden international auf Festivals gezeigt und gewannen diverse Preise.
