Fatale Femme
Claudia Schillinger
»The fascination that Marlene Dietrich or Joan Crawford films have for women is due mainly to the ›feminine‹ power these women have over men. A personal and sexual power that makes men addicted. It is a fatal illusion to try to compensate for social powerlessness with a form of personal power. Simone de Beauvoir wrote: ›The praying mantis, which tries to make the male its tool, does not succeed in freeing itself from him; for in order to capture him, he must like it.‹«
