Eden is a poignant journey back to the vibrant Paris of the early1990s. With rave music dominating the clubs, a group of creative geniuses invent a new style that will surge out of the Paris underground and conquer the world. Paul is one of them: a young, talented DJ who is devoted to the more soulful rhythm of Chicago garage. He and his partner Greg form the duo Cheers with its ironic name. Friends of his also begin to make music – under the quirky name of Daft Punk.

Paul experiences the boom of the French electro music scene with every fibre of his body. There is sex. There are drugs. Daylight gives way to pounding never-ending beats. However, while living his dream, he is sliding further and further into a parallel world of roller-coaster euphoria and melancholy.

A film full of joie de vivre, Eden is also wistful look back. Director Mia Hansen-Løve works up the story of her brother Sven (who also co-wrote the script) and tells the success story of a band such as Daft Punk without ignoring the darker aspects. Thanks also to an excellent cast that includes stars such as Greta Gerwig and Bradly Corby, she creates the ecstatic portrait of a generation.
