»And up in the north of Norway, there are even world championships in codfish tongue cutting.«
»That’s weird.«

Cutting tongues out of a fish? Ylva has to muster all her courage. Her mother was a tongue cutter as a child, and she wants Ylva to continue this tradition. The nine-year-old travels 1,500 kilometres from Oslo to northern Norway. »It’s a kind of hobby that you’re paid for.« Tobias teaches her the technique – and it soon becomes clear that the girl from the city and the boy from the provinces have more in common than they think.
