Shy Jane works in a postcard shop in Manhattan. She gets through her unhappy life in the big city with the help of therapy and dreaming of falling in love. Zoinx, Zylar and Barr are three aliens who have been expelled from their planet because people there think that their excess of »strong feelings« is destroying the ozone layer. For this reason the three of them want to suffer from hearts broken by real people on earth. When Zoinx and Jane get to know each other, they have an affair. Jane, however, doesn’t notice that Zoinx is an alien. Two government officials are on the trail of Jane and the aliens, but they are engrossed in their own secrets.
In Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same, director Madeleine Olnek has made an interplanetary lesbian fairy tale with quotes from Don Siegel’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Woody Allen’s Manhattan and a touch of X-Files.

Madeleine Olnek is a filmmaker, director and playwright. She has put up over 20 plays– all comedies– in downtown New York City. She is one of the authors of “A Practical Handbook for the Actor”, a widely used acting textbook. She received the William Goldman Screenwriting Fellowship and the Adrienne Shelley grant/award for best female director at Columbia University Graduate Film School. Her first film Hold Up was shown at Sundance in 2006, and her short Countertransference won jury prizes at The Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival, LA’s Outfest and NYC’s Newfest. Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same is her first feature film.
