Dorothy is in the middle of an identity crisis. To the outside world, her family appears to be perfect: father, mother, Dorothy and her younger sister live happily in a villa on the outskirts of Brussels. But Dorothy feels she doesn’t belong. She knows her father is not her biological father, but her mother evades her questions. So the 15-year-old has long since buried her secret fantasy of finding her real father.
Until she meets the private detective Paul. She is interested in his work, aware that it might help her find her father, but she’s also interested in Paul. What Dorothy doesn’t know is that Paul also has a daughter he hasn’t met whom he believes might be Dorothy, but he tells her nothing about his secret.
In this confusion about identities and discoveries, nobody tells anybody the truth. The situation escalates until a crucial turning point upsets everything all over again.
